ROOT SPORTS' RATINGS EARNS RECOGNITION FOR REBRAND BROADCAST CAMPAIGN
SEATTLE, WA (July 2, 2012) – ROOT SPORTSTM and creative agency Troika were recognized at the 2012 PromaxBDA Awards for their recent re-branding work, taking Silver in the Sports division, Art Direction and Design: Campaign category. Troika, a brand consultancy and creative agency specializing in entertainment media, developed the identity for ROOT SPORTS that is currently used in the network’s on-air programming.
The award-winning campaign was part of Troika’s efforts to help DIRECTV Sports Networks relaunch their regional sports networks as ROOT SPORTS in the Pittsburgh, Denver and Seattle markets where they were previously branded FSN.
“We are proud of the brand we have established and of our on-air look. It’s been our goal from the very beginning, to provide our viewers with the best on-air game experience possible. Troika’s work was instrumental in bringing that goal to life,” said Patrick Crumb, President of DIRECTV Sports Network.
"It was a pleasure collaborating with the entire ROOT SPORTS team and we at Troika couldn't be more proud to be included in their journey. ROOT SPORTS brought us a vision and the challenge to raise the bar for what an RSN stands for, and together we delivered a truly unique fan experience through building customizable, hometown-biased identities for each region based on their iconography, history, and traditions,” Gil Haslam, Creative Director at Troika, said. “This award is validation of what teamwork and vision can deliver."
Promax was established in 1956 as a non-profit, full-service, membership driven association for promotion and marketing professionals working in broadcast media. In 1997, The Broadcast Design Association (BDA) who had partnered with Promax for years on their annual conference, officially joined forces with Promax and became PromaxBDA.
