TREVOR BARRON, RACE WALKING
Hometown: Bethel Park, PA
Trevor Barron’s journey to the 2012 Olympics
was no easy task. The 19-year old, Bethel Park native, will compete in the 20K Race Walking Event for Team USA in London this summer. Trevor began race walking at 9 years old and started placing nationally by the time he was 13. However, after his record-breaking race in 2006, Trevor was admitted to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for brain surgery to curb his epileptic seizures. After an amazing recovery, Trevor set four records in the 2011 USA Outdoor Championships. In fact, he holds the national record for 20,000 M race walk at 1:23:00.10. Additionally, Trevor was the 2012 USA Indoors 3000m walk champion, 2011 USA Outdoors 20 km race walk champion, 2010 USA TF Youth and Athlete of the Year.

Hailing from McKeesport, Swin Cash has made a name for herself in the basketball world. At McKeesport High School, she earned a spot WBCA All-American Team and was the WBCA High School All-America Game MVP. She then won two National Championships at the University of Connecticut and led them to an undefeated season in 2002. After a stunning career at the University of Connecticut, Swin was selected 2nd overall in the 2002 WNBA draft. Throughout her professional career, she has won 3 WNBA Championships and has been a 5-time All-Star team player. She has also earned the WNBA All-Star MVP title multiple times.

Swin will be competing in the 2012 London Olympic Games. However, she is no stranger to the Olympic Games. In 2004, she played a huge role in winning the Gold Medal in Athens.

Besides basketball, Swin is the founder of Swin Cash Enterprise, Cash Building Blocks, and Cash For Kids. Additionally, she received an honorary Doctorate in Public Service from Washington & Jefferson College and is in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumnae Hall of Fame.

     

JAMIE BEYERLE GRAY, SHOOTING

After barely
missing the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics, Jamie Beyerle Gray is aiming for Gold in the 10M and 50M three position rifle shooting events. Jamie, a Lebanon, PA native, began shooting BB guns at 8 years old. By the time she was 13 years old, she was a national champion. Jamie chose to attend the University of Alaska – Fairbanks after high school, for their shooting team. She was also recruited by West Point for Soccer & Rifle Shooting and WVU for Shooting.

Throughout her career, Jamie has made her mark. She is currently ranked No.3 in the world after bringing home the gold medal in the World Cup Sydney and the ISSF World Cup USA Champion last year. Following these events, Jamie was named the 2011 USA Shooting Rifle Athlete of the Year.

Known for her outstanding blocks, Christa Harmotto, from Sewickley, PA, is ready to take home the Gold for the USA Women’s Indoor Volleyball in London. At H
opewell High School, Harmotto was a 3 year letterwinner in volleyball and a two year letterwinner in basketball. In 2004, she was an All-American and the Pensylvania State Gatorade Player of the year. She was also on the 2004 & 2005 USA Women’s Junior National Team. She holds the Hopewell school record for most blocks, 183, and hitting percentage, .595. She led Hopewell to 59-0 record against WPIAL opponents and a No. 1 PA Team Ranking.


As one of the top 15 volleyball recruits in the nation, Harmotto chose to attend Penn State. While at Penn State, she had the best hitting percentage, .486, in the nation in 2008. With 200 blocks in 2007 and 166 in 2008, Harmotto became known as one of the US’s top blockers. In 2008, she was named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the year. She also was named a Big Ten- Academic All American in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

She made her US National Team debut in 2009 for matches against the Egyptian National Team. After these games, Harmotto began officially training with the team.

have high hopes for a Gold Medal after defeating China in the World Grand Prix Tournament.

     
JAKE HERBERT, WRESTLING   JAKE HERBERT, WRESTLING

High School: North Allegheny
As an
Olympic favorite, Jake Herbert is ready to wrestle for gold in the 2012 Olympic Games. Herbert was born in Wexford, PA and attended North Allegheny High School. In high school, he was the Pennsylvania State Champion and won three WPIAL championships. At Northwestern University, he won two NCAA championships, three Big Ten Conference championships, and was a 4-time NCAA All-American. In 2009, he won the 2009 Dan Hodge Trophy, which is awarded to the best college wrestler in the nation.

In 2009 and 2010, Herbert won the silver medal in World Wrestling Championships at the 84kg FS class. Additionally, he was awarded USA Freestle Wrestler of the Year, Dave Shultz Memorial Champion, New York AC Champion, Pan Am Champion and the Hargobind International Champion. After defeating Travis Paulson in the Olympic Trials, Herbert earned his spot on the Olympic team in the 84KG Freestyle class.

     

MEGHAN KLINGENBERG, SOCCER

Neil Walker isn’t the only pro to hail out of Pine-Richland High School. Meet Meghan Klingenberg, the All-American, ACC & NCAA Champion, and 2012 Olympic Mid-
Fielder for the US Women’s Soccer Team. In 2005, she led Pine-Richland to the Pennsylvania High School State Championship. After high school, Klingenberg continued her soccer career at the University of North Carolina. As a Tar Heel, she led the team to two NCAA championship and three ACC titles, where she had 18 goals and 24 assists.

Klingenberg currently plays for the Women’s Professional Soccer team the Western NY Flash. She also returned to Chapel Hill last fall to coach her former team as the undergraduate assistant coach.

 

Klingenberg has been on the US women’s National Team at the U-17, U-20, and U-23 levels. In 2011, she was called up to the senior National Team for the Four Nations Tournament. Now this summer, Klingenberg will compete in her first Olympic Games.

     

CASSIDY KRUG, DIVING

After winning th
e 3-meter springboard diving competition, Montour High School graduate Cassidy Krug will be representing Team USA in her first Olympic Games this summer. Krug is an 11-time National Champion and a 7-time member of the National Team. In 2011, she took home silver and bronze medals in the 2011 Pan Am Games.


It’s no surprise Cassidy is a natural diver. Both of her parents, Julian and Dorothy, are diving coaches at the University of Pittsburgh. Cassidy took a quick break from diving after the 2008 Olympic Trials. However, after missing the sport, she returned to diving in 2010.

While at Montour High School, Cassidy was a 3-Time All American and a 3-Time State Champion. She continued her diving and academic career at Stanford University. On the collegiate level, Cassidy was a 2-Time All-American and First Team Pac-10 All-Academic.

Besides diving, Cassidy works for the Stanford Alumni Association and enjoys reading and journaling.

     
COLEMAN SCOTT, WRESTLING

High School: Waynesburg Central
During the 2012 Olympic Trials, Coleman Scott finally made his dreams come true
. Scott attended Waynesburg Central High School, where he was the Three-time Pennsylvania State Champion and the Outstanding Wrestler of the Year. Scott was also the two-time USA Junior Freestyle National Freestyle Champion and the recipient of the Dave Schultz award.

After high school, Scott attended Oklahoma State, which is known for its outstanding wrestling program. He is the 41st Oklahoma State wrestler to make an Olympic Team. At Oklahoma State, Scott was the 2008 NCAA Champion and a four-time All-American.

In order to earn his Olympic spot, Scott wrestled in a dramatic match in the middle of Times Square. On an elevated mat, Scott defeated Shawn Bunch 2-1 and earned the final spot on the USA team in the 132 lbs weight class.

 

     

LAURYN WILLIAMS, TRACK & FIELD

High School: Rochester

Rochester PA’s Lauryn Williams is heading to London for her third Olympic Games. Even though she’s not running in her normal event, Williams is ready to lead Team USA to a gold medal in the 4x100 relay.
 
To this day, Williams holds the records 100m, 200m, long jump and 4x100m relay at Rochester High School. After her strong performance at Rochester High School and her club team, The Wings of Moon Track Club, Williams attended the University of Miami, where she was the 2004 NCAA 100m National Champion. Williams is also a nine-time All-American and 11-time Big East Champion. After graduating from Miami, Williams headed to her first Olympic Games in Athens, where she earned a silver medal for the 100m event. In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Williams finished in 4th place in the finals.

 
Following the 2008 Olympics, Williams and her relay team ran the fastest women's sprint relay in twelve years with a time of 41.58 seconds. In 2010, Williams decided to take a break from running due to personal reasons and injuries.
 
However, Williams couldn’t stay away from the sport and is back to earn Gold for Team USA.
