ROOT SPORTS DEBUT NEW SERIES 'SUNDAY NIGHT CLASSICS'
WITH PIRATES 1979 WORLD SERIES, GAME 7

Series Celebrates Area's Most Memorable Games, Teams & Rivalries with Exclusive Interviews

Historic Events.

ROOT SPORTS™, the exclusive rights holder to Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins regional game telecasts, announced today the debut of their new series, Sunday Night Classics, which will commemorate a classic Pirates, Penguins, collegiate or high school game from the region’s rich sports history every Sunday night in 2013.  The series debuts Sunday, March 17th at 7:00PM with the Pirates 1979 World Series, Game 7 against the Baltimore Orioles.

The new series not only gives fans the chance to relive some of the region’s most legendary games, but also offers viewers a whole new perspective through exclusive interviews from the athletes, coaches, and media personalities that lived and covered these games. On the series premiere, Dave Parker, Phil Garner, Kent Tekulve, Grant Jackson, Many Sanguillen and Stan Savran take fans through the Pirates 1979 World Series, Game 7 by sharing their recollections and personal stories from the Pirates emotional win over the Baltimore Orioles.
