NETWORK'S 1ST 2013 WPIAL PLAYOFF GAME AIRS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 WITH
PINE-RICHLAND VS. WOODLAND HILLS AT THE WOLVARENA

ROOT SPORTSTM announced today the continuation of its 17th season of McDonald’s High School Football presented by TRIB Total Media into the playoffs this November.  The regional sports network will produce and broadcast in high-definition a 2013 WPIAL playoff game every Friday night throughout the postseason.

The action kicks-off this Friday, November 1, with a Quad-A, Round One playoff match-up between the #13 Pine-Richland Rams and #4 Woodland Hills Wolverines.   Very few teams in Western Pennsylvania can match the tradition and success of Woodland Hills, who’ve sent numerous players to the NFL and many more into the college ranks since its establishment in 1987.  Head coach George Novak has been with the Wolverines since its inception, having won six WPIAL titles and placing fourth on the WPIAL’s all-time wins list.  Pine-Richland is an up and coming Quad-A program with a high-powered offense led by one of the region’s top passers, quarterback Ben DiNucci.  Eric Kasperowicz in his first year as the Rams’ head coach, brings years of playing experience to his team, from his days as a winning quarterback at North Hills to playing linebacker at the University of Pittsburgh.

Fans can watch these two teams meet at Woodland Hills’ Wolvarena Stadium on ROOT SPORTS immediately following coverage of the Pittsburgh Penguins game against the Columbus Blue JacketsThe game will re-air Sunday, November 3 at 8:00PM and on Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00PM on ROOT SPORTS.

McDonald’s High School Football on ROOT SPORTS will continue with a slate of games throughout the playoffs and will culminate with the WPIAL Football Championships from Heinz Field on Saturday, November 23.
